Madrid-former champion Novak Djokovic has returned to Madrid for the first time in three years in hopes of earning his 100th tour-level title.
Djokovich is in the fourth half of the same half draw as Carlos Alkaraj, the second-descendant, with fitness anxiety after reaching the final of the house, the dear of the house-drawn soil-court.
Madrid’s three -time champion 37 -year -old Djokovic did not play in the Spanish capital after defeating Alkaraj in the 2022 semifinal, their first meeting.
Djokovich won his 99th title at the Paris Olympics last August. He has lost four finals since then, recently in Miami last month.
The 100 titles are featured in the club only Jimmy Curns (109) and Roger Federer (103).
In the last two weekends, Alkaraj Monti Carlo Masters won and Barcelona lost to the open final, where he needed treatment on his right leg on Sunday.
“I’m sure it won’t affect me in Madrid,” he said. “When you play a lot of matches and play for so long for rest, it happens so much it claims so much and you have to pay 100% per day. It is really hard to arrive in Barcelona for a few days to play a tournament like Monty Carlo.”
Alkaraj said Madrid’s five -time winner Spaniard Rafael Nadal wrote to him after the Barcelona final to encourage him and said he was expecting not being injured.

Alexander Javerev was the top seed of Madrid in the world after winning the weekend, and Taylor Fritz was the third seed. Defending champion Andre Rubelv was the seventh seed.
Djokovic Madrid has a 30-9 record, including titles in 20, 20 2016 and 20. He defeated his coach Andy Marke in the final of the 2016 2016.
Alkaraj won Madrid in 2022 and 2023.
Sabalenka leads to draw women
There are 29 of the top 30 players in the women’s draw. No. 15 is missing in Barbora Crazikova due to injury.
The top Ariana Sabalenka has been looking for her fourth final presence in Madrid in five years. He won the tournament in 2021 and 2023 and lost the final last year to the second seed IGA Sweetch this week.
