Winners, losers of the NASCAR CUP weekend on Michigan International Speedway


Brooklyn, Mich. – Here’s a look at the winners and losers of Sunday’s cup race at Michigan International Speedway.

Winners

Denny Hamlin – He saved enough fuel and passed William Byron for the four -round lead to win. Hamlin has won three of the last nine races. Villain Denny returned on Sunday. He teased the crowd by saying that he beat all their favorite drivers and then tweeted the University of Michigan fans on the plots by doing an Ohio state. “I’m thriving on it,” Hamlin said he was considered the villain, “just because you feel like you have 60,000 people shooting against your root.”

Denny Hamlin told fans he beat their favorite driver and did part of an Ohio State Cheer in front of a crowd with many fans from the University of Michigan.

RFK Racing – The organization has placed three cars in the top -10 in Michigan, with the first time RFK Racing has done this in Daytona since July 2016. On Sunday Chris Buescher finished second, Ryan Preece Ninth and Brad Keselowski 10th. In the regular season, Preece moved in to the final play -off match with ten races. It was Buescher’s third consecutive Top 10 in Michigan. He also won a stage. Both Keselowski’s top -10’s this season came in the last three races this season.

The Joe Gibbs driver achieved his third win of the season.

You gibbs – While frustrated after the race, he thought he didn’t have to save as much fuel and could have challenged the leaders, Gibbs placed third and linked his best result of the season.

Zane Smith – His end point of seventh place is his best result of the year and gives him the top 10 results in both Career Cup starts in Michigan. On Sunday’s result, Smith moved three positions in the standings to 22nd.

Kyle Busch – His end point of his eighth place cut a six-race line without a top 10 result.

Losers

Alex Bowman – Austin Cindric and Cole Custer contacted and sent Custer’s car in Bowman’s vehicle. It turned Bowman and he appeared the wall. “It hurt a lot,” Bowman said after leaving the Infield Care Center. He ended last in the 36 car field. Bowman placed outside the top 25 in seven of the last nine races and fell from the third to 13th in the points. He sits 15th on the play -off network and is only 13 points above the cut.

Alex Bowman walked away from an evil accident in Sunday’s accident in Michigan.

William Byron – He led 98 of the 200 rounds, lost the lead by four laps to sit down for fuel coming to the white flag. He finished 28th. This is the fourth time he has led 80 or Laps this season. He didn’t win one of the race.

Team Penske – Joey Logano finishes 22nd for the best finish of the organization. Austin Cindric was 31st and Ryan Blaney took 32nd place a week after his Nashville victory.
