Avondale, Ariz. – A look at the winners and losers of Sunday’s Nascar Cup race at Phoenix Raceway.
Christopher Bell – He became the first manager since Kyle Larson in 2021 to win three consecutive cup races. The last driver who won four consecutively? Jimmie Johnson in 2007. Primary Band, Option Band, it didn’t matter to Phoenix for Bell. His average running position in the race was 2.6. He led a 105 rounds with a race and scored 17 stage points and won a stage. Larson of Bell said: “It is very difficult to win two consecutive in the next Genera, and for them to win three in a row is really impressive.”
William Byron – Although he finished sixth, he remains the scoreline with 13 over Christopher Bell, who won three of the first four races of the season. How did Byron do this? Stage points. He had an 18 hikes at Phoenix. This is the second time in the last three races he has had at least 15 stage points.
Denny Hamlin – His runner-up has been his first top five result since Martinsville last fall.
Kyle Larson – He finished third for the second time this season. He finished in the top four in four of the last five Phoenix races.
Josh Berry – He came back from a loose air nut that dropped him to 32nd on the round 94 to finish fourth and give the Wood Brothers their first top five final at Phoenix. The team’s previous best endpoint at Phoenix was in October 1995 in October 1995 by Morgan Shepherd.
Kyle Busch – His end point of his eighth place gives him three consecutive top 10s. Busch told NBC Sports after the race: ‘I would say that the step we took from last year to this year was a very good step. Another important step like that, we can be a contender for victory. “
Zane Smith – His ninth place is his first top 10 of the season.

William Byron – He was on Pit Road when the warning came out and forced him to relinquish, and put him in the race late in the field and ended his hopes to win. Byron said: ‘It was just an unfortunate situation there. It was an aggressive call, and I thought it was going to set us up for a shot. It was just there crazy at the end. We started the 21st again and got up fairly quickly in the top 10. I feel like we’ve probably used a lot of band on the (option tires) to get the last few places, so it was hard to get a lot more. ‘

Ty Dillon – He finished 16th, but deserves a place here to ride on the lap 265 on Pit Road when he had a set of option ties across the field. Dillon was in position before the quick punishment of the Pit Road to have a much better result.
