Daytona Beach, Fla. – A look at the winners and losers of Sunday night’s Daytona 500.
William Byron – He becomes the youngest manager to have won several Daytona 500s. Byron went from ninth to the lead on the final round after an accident among the leaders. He is only the fifth manager who won Daytona 500s back-to-back. Seven of his victories of 14 cups came overtime.
Hendrick Motorsports – William Byron’s victory was the organization’s 10th in the Great American Race. No other team won as many Daytona 500s as Hendrick.
Tyler Reddick – He has never finished in six previous Daytona 500s better than 27th. Reddick finishes second Sunday.
Jimmie Johnson – His third place has been his best Daytona 500 result since his 2013 victory.
Legacy Motor Club – Erik Jones almost won his qualifying race this week. Jimmie Johnson finished third in the Daytona 500. John Hunter Nemecheek finished fifth in the Daytona 500. The two top five finals were equal to the number of top five finishes of Legacy Motor Club in the 2023 and ’24 seasons combined.
JR Motorsports – In the first cup effort of the organization, Justin Allgaier ensured a starting place of Daytona 500 with his qualifying race performance and then finished ninth in the 500.
Ryan Preece – For the second time in two years, Preece went into an accident in an accident at Daytona. “When the car took off, it became very quiet,” he told Fox. “All I thought about was my daughter, so I’m happy to walk away, but we really get close to someone who can’t, so I’m very grateful.” He placed 32nd place.
Joey Logano – He led 43 rounds and won the first phase, but finished 35th after contact with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Caused a multi-car accident and eliminated Logano.
Kyle Busch – He is now winning in 20 Daytona 500s after being collected in the accident by contact between Joey Logano and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
