When will BCCI announce the Indian team?
Amid the boycott calls, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that the ICC Champions Trophy selection meeting could be held on January 19.
“Championship Cup squad to be announced on January 19”. Shukla was addressing reporters at the BCCI headquarters on Sunday, after a special general meeting, after Devajit Saikia and Prabtej Singh Bhatia were announced as the new BCCI secretary and treasurer.
As per ICC rules, all teams were supposed to submit their provisional squads by 11:59 PM on January 12. However, the BCCI may request an extension. Normally, teams are required to notify their squads one month before the tournament, but this time the ICC has extended the deadline to five weeks. The teams will still have the flexibility to make changes to their team later if necessary.
