Ryan Blaney – winner: “I never gave up hope, it is for sure. We had a great speed all year, just wasn’t the best year for us who had happiness. The 12 boys are fantastic. They stick to it, no matter how it goes, and it was great to finish one now.”
Carson Hocevar – Second: “It just proves how strong this group is to go off the disappointment last week and have a very bad qualifying draw, to qualify really badly, keep it and have a shot. Just proud of this group. I think we average with this car is 38d. So it’s a big upgrade. Jeff Dickerson, Spire. I was probably much more vocal on the radio than I had to be, but you try just as hard and try to find something that just isn’t there. One place short again. At least it’s hopefully a step in the right direction. I haven’t seen the repetition yet (from the Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Wreck). I saw a lot of people doing the same kind of move and be sent, and I think he was the one for me to ruin them. But I felt it was just a common step with how big I had, but I didn’t see it. I’m sure he’ll want to talk. I’ll talk about it. We will look at the repetition. But I have no idea before I see it. ‘
Denny Hamlin – third: ‘I was hot. I don’t have a cool shirt or anything like that. These are three elements that other drivers have. I just couldn’t run with the 12 in the long run. After 40 laps I could keep up with them, then he just moved away and stretched it on us. Our best strategy at that point was to go. You had a caution, another courage, we all ran out, because the shot didn’t fall off, and then fresh. by (Hocevar).
Joey Logano – Fourth: ‘We did the details well. Everyone but the one restarted, we lost the lead there, but I don’t think I would have maintained it anyway. The Blaney was just lights out, giving him the big lead. The last run, after the last pit stop, was quite solid when I was running, I only got 15 or 20 rounds to get a win. To have everybody with a win. That shows all the teams are really strong. My guys were great on pit road as well. Proud of Team Penske and Everyone at the Shop. Just a Solid Hard-Earned Top Five. Everyone fights hard. Last week at Charlotte, we just missed our setups. We just didnt hit it right. Understood where that was at the end of the race. It’s just too late. This race, we fired off top five speed the whole race. (Blaney had the best car.
Ricky Stenhouse jr. – 39th: “Walk or two before, (Carson Hocevar) tried to dive back from about 10 car lengths. At the time I opened my entry a bit, he loaded the corner too much and drilled just in the back bumper. Past, we focus on the following weekend.
Corey Heim – 36th: ” I’m pretty sure I just cleaned myself over the nose of (Brad Keselowski). A little too desperate. We moved forward very quickly and I had a lot of confidence in my Camry and thought I could clean him by the time I came to the wall, and just used too much racetrack, so sorry for the guys. I also seem to have ruined his day and never want to do it. Just can’t say enough about the speed we had. I think if we didn’t start in 33rd place, we could struggle in the top -10. Very positive, just screwed it on my part. Thank you to 23xi, Toyota. Definitely had a lot of fun, and look forward to doing again. “
