MANILA, Philippines – The Senate has archived the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte with a 19-4-1 vote, shortly after the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision that barred the trial for being unconstitutional.

For Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto, the archiving made the impeachment case functionally dead. While all of this happened in the upper chamber, appeals are pending before the SC which entertained motions for reconsideration from the House of Representatives and civilian petitioners.
