North Wilkesboro, NC – Brad Keselowski is looking for the perfect weekend. Kyle Larson wants to go from behind to the front. And 21 other drivers will also fight for $ 1 million in tonight’s Nascar All-Star race in North Wilkesboro Speedway.
Green flag for the All-Star Open was set for 17:38 hours ET. The winner, runner-up and winner of the Fan Vote of the race will progress to the All-Star race.
Green flag for the All-Star Race is set at 20:14 o’clock ET.
Here’s what you should pay attention to tonight’s race:
The wrinkle in the race of this year is a promoter’s warning that can be used before the round 220 of the 250-Round race. If the caution of the promoter has not yet been used and a natural caution takes place after the round 200, the promoter’s caution will no longer be in the game.
Teams already know that there will be a competition on the round 100.How the caution of the promoter by Marcus Smith, CEO of Speedway Motorsports, is used, could have a major impact on the race, as Christopher Bell explains:
“It is likely to be in the play, and then it is a decision time of what you think your best opportunity to win the race is. Many times the call depends on what other guys do too. If you stay out and stay with you five or six guys, this is the winning call to stay out.
“But just like the second Heat Race (Saturday), if you stay and stay with you, it was a losing call.”
Brad Keselowski starts on the pole for tonight’s race and a win – although it wouldn’t count on the playoffs – would be important to his team.
Keselowski has never won this race – he is three times the second place, most of them in the event without winning it. This season was awful. Keselowski finished 26th or worse in nine of the first 12 points races.
“I think the team is a fairly resilient group,” Keselowski said after winning the pole. “I don’t care who you are as a team, we all need positive reinforcement and encouragement.”
He also won his Heat Race on Saturday. A win tonight would complete a perfect weekend for the RFK run team.
Kyle Larson will start last on the 23-car field because he qualified Justin Allgaier his car while Larson was at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Larson’s team chose not to participate in Saturday’s Heat Race because it wouldn’t matter where the car was done, because the car would be in the back of the All-Star race due to the driver’s change.
Larson will be one to look at.
“I felt like a long-term pace, we were very good,” Allgaier, the ruling XFinity Series champion, told NBC Sports. “When I look at lap 30 or 40 (on a run), our pace was right where we needed it.”
Larson had to start at the back of the field in last year’s race, as he was also at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Larson finished fourth in last year’s All-Star race.
Larson has three All-Star victories, one of the record held by Jimmie Johnson.
