What the Riders Said 2025 Supercross Round 2 in San Diego Eli Tomac Wins, Julien Beaumer

Here’s what the riders said and posted after Round 2 of the Monster Energy Supercross at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California:

450’s

Eli Tomac — Winner, 450s: “It was a great race for us. To get the win was very special, and to finish in the 20-minute main event was a huge feat for me and proof that we’ve been getting stronger and faster. Throughout the season, with training and racing, we’ve been improving the areas we thought we were a bit weak in, and it’s showing now. It’s great to get this win tonight and really have to work on passing and frontcourt.”

Jett Lawrence – Finished 2nd, 450s: “That (race with Eli) was awesome. He caught me at the start and I was trying hard to get close enough to make a pass, but he was ripping me off… I’m happy to be ten places better than last weekend for sure, so happy to be in the box… We tested the bike hard this week in a better place to try to bring them together, and it was much better.”

Cooper Webb – Finished 3rd, 450s: “Today was a much better day. I was fourth in qualifying, and then the main event went well overall. I was second at the start, which was really good, and I was head-to-head for half the race. I was a little under the weather, so it was tough and about halfway through, that was it. That being said, Eli and Jett were hauling ass. They were tonight, so I’m happy with the podium. We’ll get back to work.”

Hunter Lawrence – Finished 5th in the 450s: “It seems appropriate to reduce the disease. Made it through a tough day yesterday, happy to get a 5th back! Looking forward to getting back to 100%, thanks to the team for being epic.”

Chase Sexton – Finished 6th, 450s: “I almost landed on the first lap and then (roughly) fell on the next lap. To be honest, I wasn’t ready to go at the door. It kind of lit a fire under me and after that I really feel like I was riding the best I’ve been in a long time. … Some nights are not your night, so we will go back to A2 and try to get back to the top level”.

Malcolm Stewart – Finished 7th, 450s: “P7 last night After a rough start to the season I am happy that we are on the right track. A-2 next”.

Justin Barcia – Finished 8th, 450s: “When you start in last place you eat a jungle. In all seriousness we had two very strong races. This week we will go back to work and we will come out swinging for A2.’

Justin Cooper – Finished 11th, 450s: “It was a tough day for me all day. My ride was fine, but I locked the bars with a rider in the heat race, and then a bad gate break in the main put me pretty far behind. I did what I could from there. It’s time to bounce back next weekend.”

Justin Hill – Finished 14th, 450s: “San Diego was a (roller coaster). … The first round of the main block fell off, tore our airbox cover off. The filter was popping in and out of the bike all over the main. Aside from how it affected me when I picked up the bike, I was amazed at how much Dirt and Sand my KTM 450 was able to digest and finish the race! We made a pit stop so (Jesse James) could refit my air filter, and he still finished 14th. I’m pretty bummed after going from last to almost top 10, but I’m really happy with my ride and fitness. I’d be dangerous with a mid-pack start right now. Looking at the A2 like never before.”

Benny Bloss – Finished 16th in the 450s: “P-16 in Round 2. Back to work this week.”

Shane McElrath – Finished 17th, 450s: “Tough weekend for me in San Diego! He struggled all day with how tight the track was and also struggled with the bike setup on that track. I was definitely behind the difficult conditions and adaptation. I’m pretty disappointed with how we finished and I’m working to turn that around.”

Colt Nichols – Finished 18th in the 450s: “Well, an improvement from Round 1. It’s hard to say after getting 18th last night, but that’s about it right now. Long ways to go to get where I want to go, but it’s going to be a slow build and I need to take my small gains where I can right now. Thanks to my team and the people I have in my corner.”

Mitchell Oldenburg – Finished 19th in the 450s: “Wrong place, wrong time last night.. I put myself in a good position for the first two laps, but unfortunately another rider ruins the hard block in front of me, and I had nowhere to go. He tried to go over and overturned. I made some improvements to the A1 that I’m excited about, but obviously they didn’t show on paper.”

250’s

Julien Beaumer — Winner, 250s: “It was an amazing main event. I started well and was trying to be patient behind Davies. I tried to go down a bit and then I made the move. From then on I tried to run my own race.’

Jordon Smith — Finished 2nd in the 250s: “It was a good day. We were tweaking the bike settings all day trying to improve. We still have a lot of things to make it a little more comfortable, but overall (the bike) has been very good. … the route was mixed tonight. Many rocks came out, even on the faces of the falls, you had to be careful.’

Haiden Deegan – Finished 3rd, 250 in: “Congratulations to JuJuri (Julian Beaumer), it was a good race. My race was embarrassing, I’m sorry you had to see that. I was a little bloated at first and from there (it got worse). All I can do is work harder this week and come out swinging.” Later, through a press release: “Today started quite well, and I qualified first. The heat race wasn’t too bad. I felt very fast. I made a mistake and failed, but I still finished third. In the main event, I got off to a good start and felt good in the first few laps through the pack. I did quite badly and had to get out of there and finish on the podium.’

Cole Davies – Finished 4th, 250s: “Without a doubt, today was a good day and a step in the right direction. I was seventh in qualifying and I wasn’t very happy, to be honest, but I reset for the heat race. I got a good chance and made a great start, and I won my first heat race, so I’m delighted. Then I had the first gate for the main, and I got a start again and led a few laps, which was awesome. JuJu got away from me, and then I made a mistake and it snowballed, but I made one last corner by the fourth. So we are happy with today. We will continue to build every week.”

Ryder DiFrancesco — Finished 5th, 250s: “P5 in San Diego. Too many mistakes cost me. Ready for A2.”

Jo Shimoda – Finished 7th, 250s: “As everyone knows (I broke two fingers), no words… I have to keep the ball rolling, if not I would regret it. Thanks to the team for making the necessary adjustments to get us through the night, we’ll be a little healthier next weekend.”

Michael Mosiman – Finished 9th, 250s: “San Diego was an improvement. I took what I learned from A1 and built on it. I did better in qualifying and in the heat race, but I had a bad start for a great boss. I was having a great time and I was pushing towards the front, but then a rider dropped in front of me and I lost a lot of time and positions which in the end made a big difference. Ninth isn’t where I want it to be, but looking beyond the finish line, the San Diego race showed a lot of hope for good things to come. I’ll learn from my mistakes here and be better for next weekend.”

Hunter Yoder – Finished 10th in the 250s: “In the main P10. I’ve got the speed to be up there, but I didn’t help myself with poor gate selection. Ready for next week.”

Anthony Bourdon – Finished 11th in the 250s: “Round 2 San Diego – P11 in the main event last night. Progress is coming step by step! Thanks to my team and everyone cheering me on. Ready to keep pushing for the next round.”

Cole Thompson – Finished 12th in the 250s: “San Diego SX. Not the final result I was looking for, but life goes on. I gave it my all and did my best to fight at the front, on to the next one!”

Parker Ross – Finished 15th in the 250s: “P.15 at night. It was a very solid day for me, it had a couple of mistakes, but a lot of positives to take away from this weekend and I will continue to build on them! To continue learning. Excited for the next round!”

TJ Albright – Finished 16th in the 250s: “Round 2 of the nightly P16 books, I need to clean up a few things to be where I want to be. Come back in 7 days!

Nico Koch — Finished 17th in the 250s: “First race – First main event. What a day! So many new impressions and I had a lot of fun. I qualified P26 and made it to the Main Event in my first AMA Supercross race. Thanks for all the help.”

Gavin Towers – Finished 18th in the 250s: “He fought a lot yesterday throughout the day. But all progress was made, we will take the positives and prepare for A2 this weekend. Ready for a good week of testing with the team.”
