The Ravens will consider extending Derrick Henry’s contract

The Ravens’ decision to sign Derrick Henry as a free agent has proven to be one of the best moves of the 2024 offseason.

Henry ran for 2,191 yards and 19 touchdowns over 19 games for the team and will return for the 2025 season after signing a two-year contract. Henry’s cap hit is set to be $12.895 million for his second year, and general manager Eric DeCosta was asked in a press conference on Wednesday if the team had any thoughts about a contract extension that would make the deal more cap-friendly.

“I think he proved he has a lot of stuff left in his locker,” DeCosta said. “We’ll look into that, it’s a good question. I’m very grateful that Derek chose us last year.”

DeCosta praised Henry’s relationships with his teammates and his work ethic while saying he knew the way the season ended was tough to come back. He added that one of the goals for next season will be to start faster and that Henry “will be a big part” of that effort.
