WBO 140-pound champion Tefimo Lopez says he is in talks to fight his next unification bout against IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins.
Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) will then move up to 147 and take on IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis on the Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney 2 card in October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If Lopez wins against Ennis, he will face the winner of Garcia-Haney 2 in Riyadh in February 2026.
Lopez is not saying that Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) needs to beat the combine as a condition to face Boots Ennis in October. However, Turki Al Sheik will still allow Teofimo Ennis to face him in October, even if Richardson beats him because fighters who build up to big fights off the back of losses are nothing.
The problem could be that if Teofimo suffered a humiliating loss to Hitchins, it would spoil the fight between him and Butts in October. There’s a good chance Hitchins can dominate Teofimo and make him look worse than George Cambosos Jr., Sander Martin and Jamaine Ortiz. Does Turkey still want to use Theo for October to throw him in the ring with Boot Ennis?
This equals defeat. Lopez has looked terrible in his last two fights against seven-loss man Steve Claggett and Jamaine Ortiz. Fans thought Lopez was given a decision against Jemayne, and the same was true of his fight with Sandor Martin.
“I wish you a very productive year. We have a three-fight deal that is not yet official but we expect to announce it soon,” said Teofimo Lopez. Fight Hub TV About signing with Turki Al-Sheikh.
“Yeah, that’s what it looks like, yeah,” Teofimo said when told from Turkey that he would fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in October and then win. In the year It’s all about fighting the best, and we’re here to be strong.
“The only thing now is to win our next matches, that’s it. That’s as close as it gets,” Lopez said when asked how close Boots is to fighting Ennis. “We go to 140 and then to 147. We’re talking about (IBF light welterweight champion) Richardson Hitchins. We make one.
I don’t see Lopez’s three-fight deal with Al Sheik ending well. Theo makes big money but loses to Richardson next and looks like chum thrown to a hungry shark when he faces IBF welterweight champion Boots Ennis in October.
Turkey plans to meet the losers of the October card in February in a consolation bout in Riyadh. We see Teofimo confront Hani, both of their careers on thin ice.
“So two world title fights (Hitchin and Ennis) lined up and then a prize fight. So, we got a good plan,” said Teofimo. “Yes, we (Hitchin and Theo) know each other. Yes, we are expecting good things now. Follow it. Very soon,” Lopez said when asked when his fight with Hitchins would take place. That’s the beauty of it. We are doing everything now. This is the purpose. Complete and complete everything. My legal team is doing a great job, and that’s it.”
The way Richardson Hitchins dominated IBF 140-lb champion Liam Paro last month on December 7th in San Juan, Puerto Rico, beating Theofimo shows that he is a washed-up fighter. Lopez in 2011. Theo took a lot of punishment in his 2020 win over Vassily Lomachenko, and hasn’t been the same since.
