Subriel Matias “doesn’t fit”? Elvis Rodriguez chose the Alamo conflict

Elvis Rodriguez has opted out of a fight with former IBF light welterweight champion Subriel Matias. Instead, the 140-lb contender could fight Rodriguez (17-1-1, 13 KOs). Yomar Alamo (22-3-1, 13 KOs).

Team Rodriguez’s excuse for rejecting the fight with Matias was that he was “He doesn’t deserve it.” is it. Elvis isn’t a world champion so it’s a strange reason to fight him. He is one of many contenders in the 140-lb division.

There is a way for Elvis Rodriguez to fight Subriel Matias instead of Yomar Alamo, who is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision loss to Delante Johnson on September 27th.

However, one positive thing about fighting Yomar Alamo is that Elvis is less likely to fail. He’s not as punchy as Matthias, and Rodriguez is more likely to win.

The real reason?

If Rodriguez were to fight one of the A-level contenders at light welterweights like Gary Antoine Russell, Arnold Barboza Jr. or Sandor Martin, that excuse would be more believable. Fighting Yomar Alamo gives the impression that Elvis wants no part in fighting Subriel Mathias and can watch their fighter lose again.

Matias (21-2, 21 KOs) would be a tough fight for ‘Dominican Kid’ Elvis Rodriguez, so it’s no surprise that the team chose not to take this matchup. Rodriguez lost to Kenneth Sims Jr. in 2021, and has been working on a comeback ever since.

The 28-year-old Elvis has won his last six fights since then, though not against middle-of-the-road opponents. Predator sharks At light welterweight. After losing to Sims years ago, it would be nice if he at least tried to fight one of the more dangerous competitors.

“No, for Subriel Mathias.[He]doesn’t deserve the chance.” Reports @cesarseda. “Inside sources reveal he’s running high: Elvis Rodriguez vs. Yomar Alamo.”

If Team Rodriguez has made it clear that they don’t want to fight Matias because he’s too dangerous, it’s obviously not going to go well.
