Married for Money: “I kind of did. Not in the real sense of the word, because I earn a good income, have my own career, and agree with him on financial goals. But money is in the top three reasons for divorce. I worked hard to be in no debt – Even in graduate school – I lived in ways that ensured financial stability, like living with roommates even when I didn’t “need to,” not traveling unless I could pay in cash, and not having pets until my husband looked at the money the same way The way, simply put, I wasn’t “I would marry him if he had debts or had a mentality about money that I didn’t agree with.”

“Don’t get me wrong, I love the man – a lot – but a lasting marriage takes more than love. It creates divisions, tensions and mismatched expectations in many aspects of their lives It’s not just about money; it’s about food, travel, hobbies, pets, children, friends, education, and money touches all of these things. So, in order not to get married, at least a a little A little, ‘for’ money, or with money in mind is a terrible idea.”
