After removing Pike in the second delivery of the 12th over, the already up-and-coming Spencer Johnson was loaded full and straight on the stumps and Oliver Pike tried to step back and play a big shot but missed completely. The zing was on, and PK had to step back after scoring 19 off 21 balls in Saturday’s BBL 2024-25 clash.
But it was the dismissal of New Zealand wicketkeeper Tim Seifert that shocked one and all for Johnson. On the third ball of the same, Spencer Johnson delivered a perfect yorker aimed at the base of the stumps, and that was too good for Seifert’s new batter. Tim Seifert failed to bring his bat in time and was clean for a golden duck.

With these quick wickets, Johnson brought Brisbane Heat back into the game, but Jake Fraser-McGurk’s impressive 95-run knock was enough to keep the Melbourne Renegades over the line with 12 balls to spare and three wickets in hand in the Big Bash League. 2024-25 Clash in Melbourne.
Talking about the BBL 2024-25 clash, Melbourne Renegades won the tournament and invited Brisbane Heat to bat in Melbourne for the first time. Brisbane were able to post 196/4 in 20 overs on the board thanks to the valuable contribution of Jack Wood (40). Matt Renshaw (40) and Tom also (42*).
For Renegades, Adam Zampa and Callum Stow both took four wickets together in the heats. Chasing the challenging target, Melbourne didn’t get off to a good start, losing opener Tawanda Mooye for just three runs, but Jake Fraser-McGurk’s explosive attack pushed the Heat back.
Jake Fraser-McGurk smashed a stunning knock of 95 runs off 46 balls with five boundaries and eight sixes to beat the Melbourne Renegades. For Heat, Spencer Johnson, Michael Netherand Paul Walter took two wickets each against the Renegades.
After being adjudged man of the match, Jake Fraser-McGurk said: “I’m happy with the way we got on today. Everyone contributed today, and hopefully, a few results will go our way. I just wanted to start, pay the bowlers early. Cricket is a game where you have a terrible day, but you always have two shots left to turn things around. We hope to qualify for more, thanks to the fans who attended today. Hopefully we can build on their performance this season.
