Mexico City-Alex Bowman is sore, but did not suffer any broken legs in Michigan this weekend, according to him registered “50-something (DC).”
“I don’t know if it’s the biggest one I took on paper,” Bowman said at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Saturday, “but it’s the most painful I’ve ever taken. Even compared to when I broke my back (in 2023), it’s much more pain than that. ‘
Bowman said the pain he experienced was on the right side of his lower back through his right leg.
“Everything is really stiff, it’s all muscular,” he said.

Bowman said he has no extra filling in his seat because there is no room for it.

Hendrick Motorsports said Anthony Alfredo would be on standby if Bowman had to leave the car.

The focus for Bowman is to reverse his season. Seven finishes of 27th or worse in the last nine races dropped him from third to 13th in the points that entered Sunday’s race.
“My goal is to make all the rounds this weekend, it’s kind of,” he said. ‘We will have to wait and see how much better our car has (Saturday) versus (Friday). And what’s going on in the race.
‘I think there are many different elements of this race with heating and cooling, such as brakes overheating and things like that. Our car didn’t have very raw speed, but I think we are on the good side of some of the problems other people had.
‘… definitely an opportunity for us to go well. It was a fairly wretched two months. Just try to turn things around and point in the right direction. ‘
