Former NU Lady Bulldogs middle blocker Sheena Toring has provided immediate impact for Creamline as the Cool Smashers are off to a 2-0 start in the PVL On Tour

MANILA, Philippines – In just two games, Creamline Cool Smashers rookie Sheena Toring has built up her confidence.

Playing a key role in Creamline’s 2-0 start, Toring got better of rookie nerves to deliver much-needed impact in the PVL On Tour.

Toring filled the void left by injured middle blocker Bea De Leon, providing 10 points in Creamline’s four-set win against Akari, which followed her five-point debut against Capital1.

“I’m super blessed,” Toring said.

She also credited Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses, who was also her collegiate mentor at NU, for trusting her game despite being a rookie in a stacked roster.

“Since I’m in the fix six in just my first game, there was some nerves. But coach Sherwin told me to just play well,” Toring said.

Toring helped NU win back-to-back UAAP titles in Season 86 and 87 alongside Alas Pilipinas stalwarts Alyssa Solomon and Bella Belen.

Meneses believed continuity played a role in Toring’s pro career surge as she has been one of NU’s go-to middle blockers under the veteran coach.

“Of course, I’m happy because she gets to continue her career with us… Hopefully, she gets to develop the things we were working on at NU,” Meneses said.

Toring also addressed the expectations that comes from playing with Creamline, the winningest team in league history.

“There are big expectations so there is a need to constantly improve everyday,” she said.

Ultimately, playing in Creamline is a blessing in itself for Toring.

For her, it was a God-given gift.

“I’m very thankful to the Lord because my very first pro team is already Creamline.” – Rappler.com
