Sam Goodman’s eye injury forces him out of the Naoya Inoue fight.

Sam Goodman has suffered an eye injury and will have to pull out of his fight against unified super bantamweight champion Naoya ‘Monster’ Inoue on January 24th. The two fighters were scheduled to fight at Ariake Arena Koto-ku in Tokyo, Japan.

Goodman left

Goodman, the #1 IBF and WBO ranked contender, reports a “recurrence of his eye injury” to Boxing No Limits promoters. Goodman (19-0, 8 KOs) will not say when he will be healthy enough to postpone the fight against the undefeated Inoue (28-0, 25 KOs).

If the injury keeps Goodman on the shelf for too long, Enou will have to decide whether to move up or sit and wait. It’s not a big fight that fans outside of Australia are interested in seeing.

Fans want Inoue to face interim WBA champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev (13-1, 10 KOs) instead because that’s an upgrade in talent. Akhmadalev and his promoter have been pushing unsuccessfully for a fight with Inoue for a long time.

This will be a good time. At this stage of its career, Inoue does more than install and does whatever it wants. He’s the Canelo of the 122-pound division.

It forces repeated expulsion

“Boxing Without Limits regrets to announce that Sam Goodman has been forced to pull out of his January 24 fight with Naoya Ino due to an eye injury.

We wish Sam a full and speedy recovery and will update him on his arrangements in due course.
