Ryan Garcia says he will fight Teofimo Lopez when he returns to the ring this year after his suspension ends. Garcia’s promoter, Oscar de la Hoya, goes along with what he says.
Oscar Ryan says there’s no point in fighting Devin Honey again because he’s already “destroyed” him. He said the fight he wants for Garcia is WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs), who has no opponent after opting not to defend Subriel Matias.
Teofimo’s career came to a halt after losing to George Kambossos Jr. in 2021. Despite holding the WBO 140-lb title from the washed-up Josh Taylor in 2023, he looked awful in fights against Steve Clagett, Jamaine Ortiz and Sandor Martin. .
Top Rank obviously misjudged Teofimo and should have dropped him instead of giving him an extension after his loss to Kambosos. He hasn’t improved since that loss.
Garcia said he would “fall out” with Haney, but said he should drop the charges against him. Hani hasn’t said whether or not he has, but his recent comments suggest he won’t. Unfortunately, that makes it high and dry, but it still has Turki Al-Shik. He still believes in him and will help him this year.
If Devin loses once or twice this year, Turkey will get the hint and may give up on him. He realizes that it is not worth artificially supporting him with time and money. Turkey is the cause of Honey’s disappearance, so he better leave it soon.
“I’ll be ready for whatever happens. It looks like I will fight Teofimo Lopez. So that’s good. I saw him today. It’s a little weird, but other than that, I’m ready to fulfill his passion,” said Ryan Garcia. Second exit About him next fighting Teofimo Lopez.
“I don’t know. You’ll have to wait and see,” Ryan said when asked about his fight with Teofimo. “But after I fight him, I’ll be the first to fight all three of the ‘Four Kings.’ I’ve fought them all. Tank, Devin and Teofimo Lopez.
“I’m here throwing with everybody. It seems like everyone here is scared or something
“Not for me,” Ryan said when asked if it was necessary for him to fight Devin Haney again due to his win being forfeited and forfeited by the New York State Athletic Commission due to his positive drug test. “Fighting Teofimo Lopez will be just as satisfying as a rematch with Devin.”
Hani gets more credit than he gets at this point for beating Ryan Teofimon. From the first round, Haney was pounding around the ring.
Few are giving Hany much of a chance in a rematch with Garcia after the way he beat him last April.
The boxing public will be very interested in a Garcia vs. Teofimo fight because the two have never fought before. The WBO 140-lb belt is at stake, and Teofimo can do his part to promote the fight. In Devin’s case, he relies on his father, Bill, to do most of the work to generate interest. That doesn’t work either.
“Again, I’m not saying I don’t want to. I’m going to throw with him (Haney) again, but they had to stop all this nonsense before I got in there (leave the charge),” Garcia said.
Honey and Bill don’t seem to plan on dropping the charges. They seem to be dug in and will fight to the bitter end with their addiction even if it means shooting themselves in the foot.
