Ryan Bowles: Caleb Williams’ development is a ‘huge factor’, but won’t limit coach selection

Although that’s not the only factor in Chicago’s coaching search, the development of quarterback Caleb Williams is a key component and responsibility of whoever gets the job.

General manager Ryan Bowles noted during his press conference on Tuesday that that would be a “huge factor” in selecting a head coach. But the Poles also do not allow this to be a limiting factor.

“I think for a young midfielder, obviously, There is a perfect fit“But at the end of the day, you have to look at all the characteristics that you look for in a head coach, and then you have to see what is the best combination of those characteristics that you can bring to the building,” Poles said, via ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.

“Obviously, we’re talking about leadership and accountability and some of those important things that need to be carried over. And regardless of the situation, those need to be there. Ignoring those just to go to the other side, I think that’s a bad deal as well. Really, it’s the candidate who has the best portfolio Of all these things.

Chicago cast a wide net, with interviews reportedly requested or scheduled with candidates from Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. But regardless of who is appointed, getting the most out of Williams will be a top priority.
