Speaking to the media after India’s ODI and Champions Trophy 2025 squad announcement, Rohit Sharma put to rest speculation about tactical differences with Gautam Gambhir. The Indian captain emphasized on a strong mutual understanding and highlighted the clarity of their roles.

“Both of us are very clear about what we want to do,” Rohit Sharma told the media at a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday (January 18). I’m not going to sit here and discuss what goes on behind the scenes, every game in detail. But it is very clear in my mind.

Indian captain Gambhir said he will provide strategic insights in the dressing room, but once the team takes the field, he will take full responsibility in his hands. There is mutual respect between them and it helps them work as a team for Team India.

Rohit said, “Gautam Gambhir is beautiful… Once we enter the field, the captain believes in what he is doing on the field. The only basic conversations that happen are off the field. In the ground or maybe in the changing room, after we take the field, because I do it on the field. This is our trust in each other. That’s how it should be. It’s about him.”
