Richard Gasket ends 23 years of career after a loss to Paradise Sinar at the French Open


Paris-Richard Gasket finished his 20-year career after losing to the top Paradise Sinar in the French Open’s second round by a margin of-3-5, -10-5, -4-5.

The 4-year-old French court received a permanent ovation and a respected trophy during a match-event in Philip-Chattreyer. Novak Djokovic and Joe-Wilfrid appeared on the screen of the Songa Stadium to pay tribute.

Gasket announced earlier this year that Rolend-Garros will be its final tournament.

“I can’t dream of better consequences than to have my last match in this court,” said Gasket to lose to Papa. “I love tennis until the end of my life.”

Gasket reached the highest ranking number ranking of his career in 2007 and made three major semifinals-twice in Wimbledon and once in the US Open-never made the Grand Slam final. He won the 16 ATP title and was part of the French team to pick up the Davis Cup in 2017.

He played more than a thousand matches during his career in 2002. This was his 22nd participation in the French Open.
