Glenn played for the Jets from 1994 to 2001, before finishing his 15-year career with the Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints. His time with coach Bill Parcells, who arrived in 1997 and who signed Glenn to the Dallas roster in 2005, shouldn’t be overlooked when it comes to connecting Glenn with the Jets.
Parcells has a separate connection with Mike Tannenbaum, the former Jets general manager who is managing the search for a new coach and general manager in New York. As one source noted Monday, “Don’t underestimate the impact (of the packages)” on the situation.
This news will upset former Jets coach Rex Ryan, who has been aggressively using his political bully pulpit for the job.
The potential hiring of Glenn also points to assistant GM Lance Newmark as the next Jets manager, given Newmark’s history with the Lions. Another possibility at GM is current Lions CEO Chris Spielman.
