The Jets have cast a wide net in their search for a new head coach, but one of their intended candidates for the job was not interested in the opportunity to speak with them.
Brian Costello from New York Post reports that the 49ers quarterbacks are coached by Brian Griese refused Jets interview request for the position.
The 49ers job is Griese’s first as a coach at any level. He joined Kyle Shanahan’s staff in 2022, so he worked closely with Brock Purdy during Purdy’s rise from seventh baseman to starter.
Although Griese missed that opportunity, many others were more comfortable. The Jets did held several interviews on Friday and there will be up to 15 interviews in total when they are completed.
