Regis Programs Vs. Oscar Duarte on the job for February 15

Regis Prograis vs. Oscar Duarte has a fight in the works on February 15 in Anaheim, California. Former two-time light welterweight champion Prograys (29-3-, 24 KOs) is looking to snap a two-fight losing streak to get things back on track.

Prograis is posing a threat to fight the 28-year-old power skater Durte, but he has little choice. He is too old to work his way to the top of the light welterweight ranks. He must beat the best fighters available to him to get another chance.

Twilight years

Regis is coming off a 12-round decision loss to Jack Cattrell on October 26 in Manchester, England.

Cottrell isn’t known for his big punches, but he dropped Progress twice in the ninth round and seemed hesitant to attack in the championship rounds after that. The odds were 116-1-0, 117-108 and 116-109.

Prior to that fight, Prograys lost to Devin Haney via a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision on December 9, 2023 and was knocked out in the third round. It seems that Regis’ punch tolerance isn’t what it used to be.

Unless Progres makes dramatic improvements before February 15, Duarte will be defeated and the Mexican’s sliding power could be halted.
