President Donald Trump honored the ruling Nascar Cup champion Joey Logano and other team Penske drivers, along with team owner Roger Penke, at a White House event Wednesday.
Nascar commissioner Steve Phelps and NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell were also at the event.
Teammate Ryan Blaney, the 2023 cup champion, and crew heads Paul Wolfe and Jonathan Hassler joined Logano.
There was also Josef Newgarden, the two-time governing Indianapolis 500 winner, and Team Penske’s Felip Nasr, Nick Tandy and Laurens ofthoor, who won the 24 hours of Daytona.
Bristol is one of the better tracks of Ricky Stenhouse jr. He recorded four top five and seven top 10 finishes there.
“It’s just a celebration of racing,” President Trump said during the ceremony. “It’s a celebration of Roger and his great success and his life and these incredible champions who really do what very few people can do.”
President Trump further said: “These are wonderful champions and it’s a wonderful sport. … We love champions and it’s the biggest champions in the world. It’s the biggest champions in racing and it’s an honor to have you all.”
