As part of the announcement, Rolapp also concluded the open letter fans, which reads:

I am honored to step in the role of the General Manager of the PGA tour.

Golf has one of the deepest histories and many most highest traditions in all sports. This history and these traditions have inspired generations of players and fans, creating a game and a tour of millions around the world. At the same time, professional golf develops, such as ways of fans that consume sports. My goal as the Executive Director is to honor golf traditions, but they don’t excessively tie them.

During the last few years, the tour had meaningful progress in resolving these changes – from creating more opportunities for players to improve the competitive structure and improving the fan experience. But there is still a significant job and an incredible opportunity remains forward. From the creation of the highest quality golf product that includes the best players in the world, for strengthening commercial partnerships – while I talked to players, board members, fans, felt at the point of potential.

I come from a national football league, so I will be the first to recognize – I have to learn a lot about golf. But I love the game, I play the game and I am a fan of the PGA tour. At that end, I can’t wait to meet each of our players, cross over so many fans and better understand the needs of our partners. I’m all inside.

I am here with deep respect and curiosity to listen, I learn from all of you and help the tour at the next level. Players are central for whatever we do and make sure they are supported and hear that it will be a top priority. At the same time, we will continue to challenge ourselves to grow in new ways, get new fans and create a tour that reflects the future of sports and entertainment.

Respect the past. Build the future. Let’s go forward together.
