Rappler catches up with veteran sports executive Patrick ‘Pato’ Gregorio, who now takes on the monumental task of being the newest Philippine Sports Commission chairman, the third appointee under the Marcos administration

MANILA, Philippines – A man of many responsibilities in sports, tourism and properties, Patrick “Pato” Gregorio puts on another hat as the 13th Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman effective last July 1, succeeding Richard “Dickie” Bachmann as the third PSC head under the Marcos administration.

A former PBA chairman, current Philippine Rowing Association head and Rappler’s very own sports and tourism show Homestretch host, the amiable executive talks about his plans, his agenda of mixing the potential of sports and tourism and the further improvement of sports facilities in the country.

Gregorio also touches on President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s rare and unexpected sports agenda airtime in his fourth and latest State of the Nation Address, where he mentioned the need for more accessibilty, both in the form of upgraded facilities for athletes and more open public recreation and exercise spaces.
