Two weeks ago, the CEO of the American Football Association of Football Association Lloyd Huil resigned. It has not been replaced yet. It is not clear when it will be.
According to NFLPA, no vote for a temporary executive director has been determined.
It is a smart thing not to rush to things. At some point, however, someone needs to give affairs officially.

Yes, the current deal does not end until early 2031. But the ability to agree to the eighteenth match before the current deal ends creates a real opportunity for players to get more in return.
Remember that the next two seasons are closed in 17 games. The 2027 season, which is crowned in Atlanta, has not attached history to Super Bowl. The first season can be with 18 games.
Before this happens, NFL and NFLPA need to hold a deal. Before this happens, NFLPA needs to employ a new executive director.
