Nascar on Thursday issued serious penalties to Chris Buescher and his team for an offense with the cover of the team.
Nascar captured Buescher and the Team 60 points each and five playoffs each. Nascar also suspended crew chief Scott Graves for the next two races and fined the team $ 75,000 for the L1 offense. The suspension to Graves covers this weekend’s All-Star race in Northern Wildeboro and the next weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 on Charlotte.
Buescher was 12th place in the points-on-play game-after his eighth place this past weekend at Kansas Speedway. The penalty drops him to 24th in the standings.
He is now 27 points from the final play -off match with 14 races left in the ordinary season. Buescher’s RFK Racing teammate, Ryan Preece, moves with Buescher’s penalty to the final play -off match.
Nascar quoted the team for violating Article 14.5.4.g, which reads: “The leading fascia can be strengthened on the inner surface with bound on non-metal material in the area that contacts the bumper foam and up to 2 inches further in all directions.”
Buescher’s car was one of two taken to the Kansas race to the R&D Center of Nascar. Nascar issued no other fines on Thursday.
