Next season ends at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but where will it start?
Ben Kennedy, executive vice president of the NASCAR, chief Venue & Racing Innovation Officer, suggested on Tuesday that the Clash Exhibition Race will not be held internationally next year, although it is an option as far as 2026.
“I think it’s going until next year, it’s likely to stay domestically here in the United States,” Kennedy said in response to a question from NBC Sports. ‘However, I would never eliminate internationally in the future. We have thoughts about many of it before the season, in the off -season, an exhibition race. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to bring Nascar races to other parts of the world.
“I think it’s going to be something we will keep considering, but at least we will probably keep it household now.”
Kennedy did not say where the collision will be next year. The event was held in February at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after being in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the past three years. Chase Elliott won the event in February at Bowman Gray.
There was a little talk that the collision could be held internationally as soon as next year.
If you held the collision internationally, Nascar will be able to take the Cup series to a new market, while not disrupting the schedule. There is a lot of time before the collision for teams to send and travel and return before going to Daytona for the season open 500.
Since the collision has moved away from Daytona, the event was held two weeks before the Daytona 500. Next year, Daytona 500 is scheduled for February 15.
This season, the Cup Series is holding its first international points since 1958 when it rushes at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City on June 15.
