Minneapolis – Minnesota has promoted Danny Collins to defensive coordinator following the departure of Corey Hetherman to Miami, the school said.
Collins has been with the GOFHERS since the arrival of head coach PJ Fleck in 2017 and most recently serves as tight end coach and passing game coordinator. Security will continue to be monitored. Collins previously coached under Fleck at Western Michigan.
Fleck also promoted Mariano Sori-Marin to the linebacker and Dennis Dottin-Carter to the linebacker rush and hired Kevin Kane as a nickel back and outside back. Sori-Marin played in 58 games for the GOFERS under Fleck and was a third-team Big Ten selection in 2022. Kane served as the defensive coordinator on offense, a role she previously held at SMU and Northern Illinois.
Hetherman spent one season with the Gophers.
