New Patriots coach Mike Vrabel has confirmed that he is considering hiring Josh McDaniels as his offensive coordinator, but says there are plenty of other candidates for the job as well.
When asked on WEEI if he would bring McDaniels in, Vrabel confirmed that McDaniels is one of the people he is considering but said there are several others.
“It’s a long list. There’s a long list, and you know… I had a relationship with Josh“I’ve had relationships with other offensive coaches and defensive coaches that we’ll be interviewing that we want to bring here,” Vrabel said.
McDaniels, who was on the Patriots’ coaching staff for all eight years Vrabel was a player in New England, developed a reputation as a solid offensive coordinator during his time with the Patriots. He also failed in two stints as head coach with the Broncos and Raiders. McDaniels won’t coach in the NFL in 2024, but if he wants to return to the league in 2025, New England seems like the logical place.
