Mike Borgonzi: We’ll give Will Levis a chance, but we’ll turn over every stone at QB

The Titans introduced general manager Mike Borgonzi at a press conference Wednesday and it didn’t take long for Borgonzi to acknowledge the reality of the team’s current situation.

Borgonzi said he believes there is talent on the roster, but noted the Titans were a three-win team so there clearly wasn’t enough. That led to a natural continuation of the quarterback spot discussion as the decision to go all-in on Will Levis in 2024 was out of the question for the team.

Levis remains under contract and Borgonzi said he will factor into the team’s plans, but he won’t be the only part of their plans as Borgonzi knows they have to make sure they have the right man for the job.

“We are keep an open mind on this issue, but quarterback is the most important position in sports,” Borgonzi said. “So you have to solidify the fullback position. We’re going to turn over every stone, whether it’s free agency, the draft or having quarterbacks on the roster here. Will, we will give him every opportunity to play and compete. But we’re going to attack this thing. We will attack this relentlessly until we find an answer.”

The Titans have the first overall pick in this year’s draft and that usually leads to quarterback connections. Cam Ward and Shadeur Sanders are considered top picks this season, but Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said Wednesday the team will not move on “generational talent” with a pickaxe. None of these quarterbacks really fit that plan, but Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter could and that could lead the Titans to take a different approach at quarterback this offseason.
