May Nascar Cup Power Rankings: Kyle Larson holds the best place for another month

Here’s a look at the top managers in May.

May power ranking

1. Kyle Larson (last month 1st)

While his attempt to run all 1100 miles from Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day flourished on the same day after accidents in both races, one should not overlook the month Larson had in Nascar. He won from the pole in Kansas and finished fourth on Texas. He ended the month with one cup victory, three victories and one bonus point for the fastest round in a race. He led a 345 rounds in the series in May and was second for the month in the stage points at 38. Larson was second in points scored at 112 in the month.

Kyle Larson achieved his third cup victory of the season.

2. Christopher Bell (NR)

He won the All-Star race and finished in the top 10 in the month in each of the three points races in the month, and ninth in Texas, second on Kansas and eighth place in the Coca-Cola 600. This helped Bell to score the most points of the month, with 118. Bell finished fifth in the stage points. He led only eight rounds in the three points races (he led 28 of 250 rounds in the All-Star race).

The Joe Gibbs driver achieved his first all-Star race victory.

3.. William Byron (2nd)

Byron finished third in points scored at 110 in the month. He had one top 10 final in the three points races and placed second in the Coca-Cola 600. He won three phase-all in the 600 in the month. Byron finished for second place with Kyle Larson in the stage points at 38.

The two-time Daytona 500 winner is second in the points in the Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.

4. Ross Chastain (NR)

The Coca-Cola 600 winner also won a runner-up in Texas. He placed 20th place in Kansas in the other points race in Kansas. Chastain was also third in the All-Star race. He was one of only four drivers to the top 100 points for the month. He had 104 in May.

Team members worked almost through the night to prepare Ross Chastain’s backup car, which took him to a win in the Coca-Cola 600.

5. Joey Logano (NR)

He won at Texas and ended the runner-up in the All-Star race in North Wildeboro. Logano was also ninth in Kansas. He was sixth place in points scored by 92 in May.

Joey Logano said how Bell chased him: “When I went back and looked it again, I was like, it wasn’t as bad as I thought.”
