Matt LaFleur: This is a difficult lesson, and one that we hope to learn from

The matches were played in two different countries, but the team finished their season the same way they started it.

They lost to the Eagles in Brazil in Week 1 and lost again in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon in an NFC Wild Card game. They committed a series of turnovers and penalty kills while suffering several injuries en route to a 22-10 final score that kept them from advancing to the divisional round for the second straight season.

While this was a disappointing result, head coach Matt LaFleur said he hopes the way things went will serve as a building block for future success.

Yeah, I think it just goes back to showing you, like the importance of having these home games, in my opinion,” LaFleur said, via text from the Eagles. “We have a really tough division, and you know, I hope our guys use that as fuel this offseason to dig a little deeper and come back a little better, individually, because collectively, that’s going to make a huge difference. Obviously, we’re going to comb through everything.” I think we still have a young football team. I’m not making excuses or anything like that. We have a young football team and unfortunately, this is a tough lesson along the way. Hopefully we can use this as fuel to get better and learn and be a better team Next year.

Getting playoff appearances at home will require winning the division, a difficult task when the Lions and Vikings are also in the NFC North. The Packers will need to compete with and hold their own to advance, however, getting to that point will be their priority this offseason.
