Berlin-autumn Wimbledon champion Marketta Vandrosova was hit by a few months behind him by the Chinese qualifying Wang Geniyu-6 (1), 3-6, -2-2 and won the Berlin Open on Sunday.
The 25-year-old Vandrosova, who fell to the rankings after the left shoulder surgery, was the first title in his first final after winning the Wimbledon in 2023.
“We all were working hard to bring me back and I thought I know, we came here to try to win the first match here and now it is happening.
Vondrosova defeated the top Aryana Sabalenka-2-2, 6-1, to reach the showdown with Wang in the semifinals, who was playing his seventh match within nine days of coming through the qualifiers.
The 26 -year -old Wang reached his first final by defeating former champions Ludmila Samsonova in the semifinals. Earlier, he ousted Daria Kasatina, Coco Ghaf and Paula Bados after the selection.
“It’s been an incredible week for us and and I am right, we are waiting for the next one,” Wang said, who just got 10 wins this year before appearing in the grass-court tournament.
