If the two most unpopular former heavyweight champions met, who would win between Leno Lewis and Larry Holmes?
Lewis is 41-2-1 with 32 stops, two stops. By Hasim Rahman, 34-2 in five rounds near the end of his career. In their next fight, he stopped Rahman. Hands down and stopped by Oliver McCall, 24-5. Their rematch stopped McCall, who was depressed after the fight.
Born in Jamaica, he moved to Canada to fight amateur. In the year He beat American Riddick Bowe to win the 1988 Olympic gold medal in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to United Kingdom for his professional career.
At the end of his pro career, Vitali Klitschko retired from boxing with a record of 32-1. He was five rounds behind and didn’t want to give Vitali the comeback he deserved.
Holmes went 48-0 before losing to light heavyweight champion and former Olympic gold medalist Michael Spinks in back-to-back fights.
“Marciano can’t wear my jock strap!”, after losing to the first Spinx. He made a racist comment. I guess he forgot that it was Spinx who beat him, not Marciano, who took his heart and took it out!”
Holmes came out with all the work, and Marciano came up short, probably with a right uppercut, and broke his elbow, in my opinion.
Holmes stopped Marvis Frazier 10-0 at 44-0 and then said, “That’s for the spanking your father gave me in sparring!” he said.
Holmes finished 69-6. He lost to Denmark’s Brian Nielsen 31-0. Nielsen was 49-0 when he lost to Dickie Ryan.
In Holmes’ last fight, he came off the canvas in the final round and defeated ‘King of the Four Rounds’ Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch 66-2-3. It felt like a four-rounder to Esch’s first 10 schedule would stop him, but he didn’t.
So, who would win between Lewis and Holmes?
