Legacy Motor Club filed a lawsuit against Rick True Racing on Tuesday claiming that RWR has an agreement to sell one of his charters to the team.
The lawsuit was filed in the North Carolina Superior Court in Mecklenburg County.

Rick True Racing has two charges. It rented up one charter to RFK Racing for this season. The charter is in line with RFK’s number 60 team from Ryan Preece. Rick True Racing uses his other charter for the no. 51 team of Cody real.
In the court documents, Legacy Motor Club mentions that he learned that a charter owned by Rick True Racing was “on the market to buy.”
The complaint states that “cash was caught and could not compete with his own admission at a hill level, but RWR had to sell one of his two charters. So, on the morning of January 6, 2025, Legacy CEO Calvin“ Cal ”Wells III, met with RWR’s representative – RWR real, and his broker TJ Puchyr – to strike an agreement.
“Despite having a binding agreement in place, RWR wants to withdraw. It said Legacy that it would under no circumstances close the parties’ transaction. Legacy was trying to speak sense in RWR, in vain. Legacy’s patience has now ran. It now brings this matter to force the rights to his agreement.”
The athleticRick True Racing, with reference to unnamed sources, said the agreement would be done for the 2027 season and that the legacy changed the year after 2026 without warning RWR officials.
A spokesman for Legacy Motor Club told NBC Sports that the team did not comment.
