Lea leads a powerhouse cast in bringing Stephen Sondheim’s beloved classic to a new generation of Filipinos
MANILA, Philippines – When Theatre Group Asia announced that Lea Salonga would be playing the Witch in its August 2025 production of Into the Woods, people lined up for tickets at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati City as early as 4 am. All shows were sold out two hours into the sale.
But, Lea Salonga told Rappler, she doesn’t think that was all about her. It’s also the show itself.
