Punta Cana, Dominican Republic – Joel Dahmen came out eight shots before he was on Thursday, then set up a 10-minute minutes to take two shots in the Corales Puntacan championship.
Dahmen, whose lonely PGA tour was four years ago in this tournament of the opposite field in the Dominican Republic, ended with three birds over the last four holes in Corales Courales in the Puntacan Resort.
He led two shots over Keith Mitchell, Garrick Higgo and Matt Wallace on the day he was only over half of the 132-Man field in the 60s.
Dahmen played in the afternoon, but the wind was relatively calm all day.
The winner of the tournament receives two-year exemption and place at the PGA championship next month. It is maintained by the same week as a signature event in South Carolina.
