Lani Cayetano’s team takes full control of Taguig City Council

Councilors from the Enlisted Men’s Barrios — barangays formerly part of Makati — will be sitting in the Taguig City Council

MANILA, Philippines – The slate of Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano secured a solid victory in the 2025 elections. All of the 24 seats in the city council were won by the councilors under Cayetano.

Cayetano’s running mate Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit also secured reelection. Cayetano and her slate ran under the Nacionalista Party.

Here’s the complete list of winning councilors in each district:

District 1

District 2

This election also marked the first time leaders from the Enlisted Men’s Barrios — barangays formerly part of Makati — will be sitting in the Taguig City Council. Among them are Pembo’s Punong Barangay Kim Abbang and Barangay Rizal’s Punong Barangay Sammy Cruz.

Iony De Lara-Bes of Barangay West Rembo, wife of Punong Barangay Leo Bes, also won a seat in the council.

Despite a sweep, Cayetano noticeably secured lower votes in EMBO barangays.

Congressional seats

The two congressional seats of Taguig were also secured by Cayetano’s allies. Reelectionist Ading Cruz secured 118,205 votes beating former Taguig mayor and congressman Lino Cayetano, Lani’s brother-in-law.

In the 2nd District of Taguig, incumbent congresswoman Pammy Zamora also lost against Cayetano-backed candidate Jorge Bocobo. Zamora’s congressional bid was backed by Makati Mayor Abby Binay.
