Laila Fernandez criticized the schedule after losing to Montreal after the Washington title


Laila Fernandez criticized the National Bank Open after the Canadian losing to the first round of his home tournament after winning the title in Washington.

Fernandez was rooted in only 1 hour, in 15 minutes by Australian Maya Joint 6-4, 6-1. The ranked player at No.25 won the WAA of his fourth career in Washington and expected extra rest before returning to Montreal court.

Fernandez said that he received “lots of promises” during the Tuesday night session, gave more time to recover between the two tournaments, but learned while traveling it would not happen.

“I didn’t get it,” he said. “It hurts me because I was looking forward to playing at night, but I guess this is a bit of a political issue at the moment.”

Instead, the top-prone Coco Gulf fellow American Daniel Collins plays to open the night session, the French Open final after the final of the first win-5, 6-6, -6-6 (2) wins 20 double-flags.

Montreal’s National Bank Open Tournament Director Valery Tetrolat said he promised Fernandez that he would “fight so that he could spend time with his choice.”
