Kyle Larson, who competes on the same day since 2014 in the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600, hit the wall in the Indycar test session in Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
He was not injured.
Larson participates in an Indycar test at Indianapolis Motor Speedway before next month’s exercise on the 2.5 mile track.
During the morning session – when teams gave more boost to mimicking qualifying conditions – Larson’s car turned 1 wide and slapped the wall with the right. His car slides off the lane to turn 2 and then walks back on the lane and hits the wall with the right side of the car.
Larson explained what happened on the Indycar YouTube stream after leaving the Infield Care Center.
“I just started my qualifying rounds there and just got really tight, just a bunch of undercons through (turn) 1 and ran out of the space of turn 1,” Larson said. “I felt the bottom (Wednesday) kind of fight and it transferred to (Thursday).
‘Honestly, however, I am pleased to crash my first Indycar and live it. We will just work on it and try to get the balance more comfortable. I just didn’t quite feel like I had the feeling I needed (Wednesday) and it really conveyed (Thursday). I think if you go faster, it really stood out.
“Just a bummer. I know it wasn’t a big hit or anything, but it didn’t feel different than I expected. “
Larson won two of the last four cup races that were on the road on Sunday’s event on Talladega Superspeedway.
Larson tried to run both Indy 500 and Coke 600 last year. He finished 18th in last year’s rain-extracted Indianapolis 500 and arrived well at Charlotte Motor Speedway after the Coca-Cola began 600. He was ready to get into his cermot, but never got the chance when the rain ended early.
