Kurt Busch, who won the competition in the first chase in 2004, is one of the 15 nominees for the 2026 Nascar Hall of Fame class.
Busch is one of the ten nominees of the modern era announced on Monday. Five nominees of the pioneer -era – designed to honor those whose careers began more than 60 years ago were also announced on Monday.
Nascar Hall of Fame Voters meets May 20 to choose two nominees of the modern era and one from the Pioneer era to be included in the Nascar Hall of Fame in 2026. The Landmark Award, which makes those who have made an important contribution to Nascar, will also be selected on May 20.
Busch won 34 races and one title in Cup in a career ranging from 2000-22. He won the 2010 Coca-Cola 600, 2017 Daytona 500 and scored six wins on Bristol, including the night race twice.
Busch also competed in the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 in 2014. He remains the most recent driver who ran in both races on the same day after Kyle Larson did not get into Charlotte in his car until Rain stopped the race last year.
Another first nominee of the Nascar Hall of Fame includes two-time Xfinity champion Randy Lajoie.
The nominees of the Nomination Committee of the Modern Era Mood and Landmark Award were selected, consisting of representatives of Nascar and the Nascar Hall of Fame, owners of large facilities and historically short tracks. The Honors Committee, which consists largely of all Nascar Hall of Famers, the winners of the Landmark Awards and the winners of the Squier-Hall Award, chose the Pioneer ballot.
