Veronica Kudarmetova won the Women Doubles in Wimbledon on Sunday to win the team with Ellis Martens to win the first Grand Slam title, defeating Hassi Su-Wei and Jelena Ostapenco in the Center Court, 3-2, 2-2, 6-6.
Kudarmetova and Martens were on the opposite side in the final in 2021 but this year he was playing together in Wimbledon for the first time. They won the last four games to return 4-2 in the third set but won the last four games.
It is the fifth Grand Slam Doubles title of Martens and second in Wimbledon. In 2021, he tied up with Hish to win the Marathon final, where they saved two match points against Kudormetova and Elena Vesinina.
“I lost this final and it was so painful,” said Kudarmetova. “Today I told myself, I really want it and it is mine now.”
Hassih has won the Wimbledon Doubles title four times with three separate partners.
Ostapenco 2017 won the French Open Singles title and was looking for the second big doubles title after winning the US Open with Lollywood Kochhenok last year.
