Kristi Noem clears the procedural obstacle on the way to the homeland security reform

ineligible Rov. Krista Noem, Rs.d.to become the next homeland security secretary, was a key hurdle in the confirmation process on Friday night, advancing to a final vote later in the weekend.

His confirmation vote is expected to take place early Sunday morning.

If confirmed, Noem will become the fourth president in Donald Trump The options to advance in the Senate include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegma.

After Noem, votes are expected for Secretary-Treasurer Scott Bessent, followed by Transportation Secretary-elect Sean Duffy.

The South Dakota governor is expected to receive bipartisan support for the department’s confirmation Homeland security (DHS). His nomination was advanced from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC) by a 13-2 vote. Only two Democrats voted against him.

“I was the first governor to send the National Guard to Texas when they were being overwhelmed by an unprecedented border crossing,” he told the committee during his confirmation hearing last week.

“If confirmed as secretary, I will ensure that our extraordinary border patrol agents have all the tools and resources they need to effectively carry out their mission.”
