Kevin Stefanski will resume calling the Browns’ offensive plays in 2025

Midway through Cleveland’s tumultuous 2024 season, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced he would ditch the offensive play-calling, handing it over to now-former offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.

But now, Stefanski is getting it back.

Before new offensive coordinator Tommy Reese’s introductory press conference, Stefanski announced that he would resume his job — which he had since becoming the Browns’ head coach in 2020.

I’m going to call the plays “I reserve the right to change my mind,” Stefanski said, via ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi.

As for Reese’s hiring, Stefanski said he admired the 32-year-old coach from afar before hiring him on staff in 2024 as a passing game specialist and tight ends coach.

“Actually, the last year I spent with Tommy reinforced what I thought,” Stefanski said. “We went through a process with some really impressive candidates for this job – some smart people who we really enjoyed getting to know. But, ultimately, I felt like Tommy was the right person for this football team.

Stefanski added that it appears Reese already has a firm grip on the job in the meetings the team has held since his promotion.

Cleveland has a lot to figure out offensively in 2025, but the quarterback will likely be the team’s focus in the early part of the offseason.
