Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman will return to the ring in two months to face junior middleweight Brock Jarvis on March 12 at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia.
The 36-year-old former WBA and WBC welterweight champion Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) will be coming off a three-year layoff when he takes on the 27-year-old Jarvis (22-1, 20 KOs).
That’s assuming Thurman makes it out of training camp without a fight-cancelling injury, just as he was scheduled to challenge Tim Tsiu for the WBO 154-lb title on March 30 last year. Thurman pulled out of the fight with a biceps injury and was replaced by Sebastian Fundora, who upset Tsyu.
In the past, one would say Thurman was too old and inactive to have a chance at big paydays. Now, with old-timers like Mike Tyson returning, Thurman has a chance. He may not beat anyone in terms of talent, but unless he continues to get injured, he can have some really good days. He has suffered repeated injuries since 2017.

The plan is for the winner of the Thurman-Jarvis fight to take on Tim Tsiu. However, you can’t rule out interest from Turki Al-Sheikh in Thurman if he wins against Jarvis. This could be the reason Thurman is coming back after three years in the ring, as he hasn’t done anything in his career since losing to Manny Pacquiao.
“Jarvis to stage shock Sydney show at Thurman on March 12” . Fox Sports Australia About Brock Jarvis, former WBA and WBC welterweight champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman next. A press conference will be held on Wednesday to reveal details of the event to be held at Sydney’s iconic Hordern Pavilion.
For a short time, Thurman was considered one of the best welterweights in the sport. However, after his epic fight against Danny Garcia in March 2017, Thurman has only fought three times against Josecito Lopez, Manny Pacquiao and Mario Barrios. Injuries have been an issue for Thurman, but he’s also not interested in sticking around like ordinary fighters who don’t have a large nest egg to live on.
Australia’s Brock Jarvis has fought an unknown number of opponents in his 10-year career. He went up once and lost in the first round to Liam Parro on October 15, 2022. After that fight, Jarvis returned to fighting lower ranked opponents with wins over Adrian Rodriguez and Marlon Panyamogan.
If Thurman has anything left after sitting on his back for three years, he should beat Jarvis. Still, it’s questionable whether he’ll make it out of training camp without some sort of illness.
