Keith Mitchell Ko-Vodi in Houston despite this ‘absolutely stupid mistake’

Keith Mitchell makes a habit of taking away great.

Thursday at Texas Children’s Houston Open was not different – except, of course, for the first hole.

Mitchell shot at 5-Mank 65 to share the lead in the first round in the Memorial Park with Alejandro toasti, Ryan Gerard and Taylor Pendrith. Round in eight years marked the fifth time in eight years, this year Mitchell shot at 68 or lower in the powder.

But returning to that first hole, a couple-4 first hole, where Mitchell handed his first of two bogeass on one day that otherwise involved five birds and eagles. Mitchell called this “absolutely stupid mistakes” after he found the center of the waterway. Mitchell is another shot from 203 meters, missed the flag by about 35 meters, instead finding a bunker for greenery.

There were reasons, Mitchell explained after that.

“There was a lift, clean and place and didn’t clean it,” Mitchell said. “Somehow I had a mud ball and shot at the dead, so my Caddy hardly gave me and I was making fun of me a little, what I deserve.”

Mitchel sprayed about 10 feet short and missed it was Putt, but he would return from the 6th golf rest of the way.

Now comes the challenge of keeping the momentum, something Mitchell is struggling with this season. Remember all these great first circles? Well, Mitchell hasn’t finished it yet in the top 20 in the first seven events.

When asked what he potentially works differently this week to ensure a better result, Mitchell replied, “Play better Friday through Sunday.”

And if allowed, don’t forget to clean the mud from his ball.
