Keisean Nixon wants to focus on playing corners rather than returning kicks

Like Art Vandelay who hoped to focus on imports instead of exports (or was that exports instead of imports?), Packers running back Keisean Nixon wants to reduce his two jobs to one.

Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, Nixon wants to give up the return portion of his portfolio.

I want to be CB1Nixon said on Monday. “CB1 doesn’t do kickbacks. It is just what it is.”

Deion Sanders may disagree. (So could Jaire Alexander.) Regardless, Nixon has his own priorities and prerogatives.

In the 2024 season, Nixon expanded his defensive role from slot/nickel to full-time outside linebacker.

He never liked the new rule to begin with, which is clearly here to stay. However he got there, he’s done with it.

“I kind of got over it,” Nixon said. “I don’t want to do that anymore. There will be talks with the coaching staff and things like that, but I think it’s over for me.”

Nixon has two years left on a three-year, $18 million contract he signed in March 2024. If he develops into a top corner, he’ll make a lot more next time around.
